Are there different routes at each site?

Yes, each site will have a two-mile accessible route and a longer, more challenging, five-mile route. Maps are available at check in and turns are well-marked. All routes have rest stops where you can pick up a snack and a drink to keep you going.

What happens if it rains the day of the walk?

walk MS will take place rain or shine. Some routes may be adjusted, however, depending on conditions.

Where does the money go?

All funds raised by participants in walk MS will help fund research to find treatments and a cure for multiple sclerosis. Locally, the money will help the more than 6,000 people in Connecticut who live with the debilitating effects of MS. Our vital programs and services include information and referrals to local resources, workshops, programs for people who are newly diagnosed, emergency financial assistance, care management, medical equipment loans, and MS caregiver and support groups.

Why should a participant pre-register?

When participants register in advance, they will receive a “Starter Kit” mailing, which includes all the relevant newsletters and information pertaining to walk MS. It also helps us determine the quantity of food and beverage required to accommodate all participants. Most importantly, pre-registering helps participants start their fundraising efforts early!

Are there age requirements?

Children must be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years of age. Participants 17 and younger will require the signature of a parent or guardian on the check-in envelope.

Will there be anyone to help participants on the route?

Yes, local police will help cross participants at busy intersections. Volunteers monitor the route and have access to medical help by radio to the start/finish line. If you cannot finish, support vehicles are available to drive you back.

Can people who haven't registered show up and walk that morning?

Definitely! Plan to arrive at 8 a.m. and we will ask participants to register, sponsor themselves, and find more sponsors after walk day to be eligible for prizes.

How do I earn prizes?

Prizes are based on donations turned in by the deadline.
